Ephesus, Glenwood, and Seawell are being studied for possible closure because the buildings are among the oldest facilities in CHCCS with the greatest capital investment needs in the future. Selection to be studied was based on facility needs, not on academic performance of the schools or any other reasons.

The Board of Education approved 8 objective criteria to evaluate the schools. The criteria are listed here (PDF).

The study, which will be a compilation of factual information and not an evaluation of any one particular school, is being conducted by the CHCCS administration.

In March, following a series of Board meetings that included public comments and deliberations, the Board voted to affirm the district’s commitment to the public plans (i.e. to build a new Estes Hills, FPG and Carrboro) that were communicated prior to the November 2024 bond referendum.

Yes, this is hypothetically possible. The Board has not yet decided to close any schools at this time.
